1. Q: Do I need to receive credit?
A: All interns must be able to receive college credit to participate in the FOX program. Interns will be required to provide documentary proof that they will receive college credit, at the time their internship starts.
2. Q: Is this a paid internship?
A: The FOX internship is unpaid; however, if accepted into the program, an intern will receive a daily travel stipend of $10.00 per work day.
3. Q: Will my interview be in person?
A: Each interview is determined on a case-by-case basis. If you are able to be in the area, an in-person interview is preferred. If you are out of the area we will be able to accommodate you with a phone interview.
4. Q: How should I prepare for my interview?
A: Dress for success and be familiar with our company. It is important to do research ahead of time. To make the best impression, emphasize your experience and your interest in the FOX news network.
5. Q: What does the typical intern schedule look like?
A: Schedules will vary, depending upon the department you are placed in. We are a 24-hour news organization and you must be open to all schedules.
6. Q: What does the typical day look like for an intern?
A: Responsibilities for interns include, but are not limited to: Guest greeting, researching story ideas, working with graphics, cutting tape, running scripts, and booking guests. For an inside look at the intern experience, check the "Intern Experience" section of our website.
7. Q: Will I be able to rotate between departments to learn more about the overall news experience?
A: Each intern will be placed in a specific department at which they will stay for the duration of the semester. Upon the approval of your supervisor, you will be allowed to work with other areas in your spare time.
8. Q: How long will the internship last? When does it start and end?
A: Internships will generally last for about 2-3 months depending upon semester schedules. The start date will begin during the first few weeks of your semester and will end a few weeks before the semester is finished.
9. Q: Will FOX News pay for housing?
A: Each intern is responsible for finding and paying for their own housing. For housing tips, check out our "Lodging" section of our website. Though the company does not recommend or comment on housing options, FNCU '08 interns put together helpful information on finding a place to stay in NYC!
10. Q: Do you hire interns after graduation?
A: We have hired many interns after their graduation. This will depend on job openings at FOX, as well as the semester end intern evaluations.
11. Q: Is FOX News a unionized company?
A: Fox news is not a unionized company.
